Recurrent Implantation Failure (RIF) is generally defined as the failure to achieve pregnancy after multiple transfers of good-quality blastocysts during IVF treatment. This can be a challenging and emotionally demanding experience for many couples.

The first step is to arrange a consultation with Dr Seng, either through a referral from your current fertility specialist or by contacting our clinic directly. An endometrial biopsy is a simple procedure used to collect a small sample of tissue from the lining of the uterus (endometrium). Similar to a cervical screening test, a speculum is inserted into the vagina and a thin tube is gently passed through the cervix to obtain the sample. The procedure is performed to assess factors that may affect uterine receptivity and contribute to recurrent implantation failure.

Analysis & Recommendations

The biopsy sample is analysed by specialised laboratories to identify potential causes of implantation failure and determine whether any adjustments to your fertility treatment may be beneficial. Based on the results, recommendations may include changes to the timing of embryo transfer, additional medications, or other personalised treatment strategies. In some cases, the findings may show that endometrial receptivity is already optimal and no changes to the current treatment plan are required.

Follow-Up Consultation

The results of your investigations are typically available within four to five weeks and will be reviewed during a follow-up consultation. During this appointment, your fertility specialist will discuss the findings and develop a personalised treatment plan based on the results of your recurrent implantation failure assessment.
In some patients, the investigations may not identify any significant abnormalities. In rare cases, additional testing or repeat assessments may be recommended to obtain further information and guide future treatment decisions.
