Intrauterine Insemination
Intrauterine Insemination is a commonly performed fertility treatment in which prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilisation. IUI treatment may be performed using a partner's sperm or donor sperm, depending on individual fertility needs.
As a relatively simple and minimally invasive fertility treatment, IUI is often recommended for selected cases of unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility, or ovulation-related concerns. The procedure is generally safe and well tolerated by most patients.
Like all fertility treatments, IUI treatment carries certain risks, including multiple pregnancy and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), particularly when fertility medications are used. Before proceeding, your fertility specialist will explain the benefits, risks, and expected outcomes of IUI treatment and answer any questions you may have.
